Born Marcus Opellius Macrinus; as Emperor in 217 CE, Imperator Caesar Marcus Opellius Severus Macrinus Augustus. Macrinus is reported to have had a hand in the assassination of Caracalla on April 8, 217. He was executed in Cappadocia in June of 218 after Elagabalus was proclaimed emperor by troops.
